What does it mean to be a ROAR member?
ROAR is a collective that seeks to build women’s community, facilitate women’s activism, and amplify women’s voices. There is one organizer who handles the administrative tasks that keep ROAR going, and everyone else contributes whatever they want.
Women who are members of ROAR gain access to a private weekly mailing list that contains the following information:
- Scheduled events
- An invite to the weekly online organizing meeting
- Project updates
- Gender ideology news updates with a focus on the NYC metro area
They also gain access to all private ROAR chat groups.
Since the goal of ROAR is to provide a stable, supportive community that helps women thrive creatively, what a member contributes is ultimately left up to her. Some women are willing to stand in public for controversial women’s rights issues, risking their families, careers, and freedom. If you can’t, that’s fine! Some women contribute writing and expertise to ROAR, ensuring that we cover what is important to them at the standards they hold themselves to. Some women are just now learning the scope of the problem, and came to ROAR to learn and grow. Whatever stage our members are in, there’s a place for them.
You also don’t have to pay membership fees to be a ROAR member. It’s free and it only takes up as much time as you want it to.
Who are ROAR members?
As often happens with human rights causes that have been pushed to the side, ROAR has the honor of gathering driven, ambitious, soulful women from all backgrounds. Writers, lawyers, nurses, scientists, activists, humanitarians, and community leaders are all well represented within ROAR’s ranks.
Because any woman who makes her name or face public with a dissident stance risks severe harassment from anti-woman activists, especially online, we will never share a list of our members’ names.
Who can join ROAR?
Any woman who agrees with our Mission Statement is welcome to join.
Along with our shared understanding of how policies shaped by gender ideology have harmed women and girls, the other key value to note is our commitment to women’s plurality of thought and free speech. The women who find ROAR are free thinkers, and if you’re considering joining, so might you be. With free thought comes the risk of disagreeing with each other on issues close to our hearts. Strongly, sometimes. Working with ROAR represents a commitment to put those other issues aside, if even for a moment, and focus on our shared goals.
For example, ROAR is a nonpartisan group. We welcome women from across the political spectrum in the spirit of free thought.
